Silver Upholders has been working relentlessly to reduce poverty since its inception in February 2008. The formal banking sector in developing countries, like Uganda, does not typically provide financial services to the poor. This sector concentrates on large loans to the upper class, thereby completely excluding low income groups.
The microfinance movement, however, has shown that there is a growing market among the poor when financial products cater for their specific needs. The poor are a quite active group in any economy.
