Of course, all of my website is meant to help get the word out about my books, in addition to providing resources for literacy. But be forewarned: on this page you will find news items that tend toward pure, unadulterated, shameless self-promotion!

Another Internet sighting of The Curious Demise of a Contrary Cat: On the GoodReads website, Robert's bookshelf includes Contrary Cat among his
best-i-read-2006. Robert's best of 2006 includes mostly books for grown-ups, but one other children's picture book: Wolves, by Emily Gravett.

I happened across another mention in the blogosphere: The Curious Demise of a Contrary Cat is one of two Quail Hollow Elementary School recommended read-aloud books for October 2007. I would certainly agree that the cat book makes for an excellent read-aloud, especially during the month of October!

Internationally acclaimed! My husband and I have been looking forward to the possibility of one day, perhaps, being able to describe my books as such. And, it would appear, now we can! The Teachers' Book Depository, in Canada, has given The Curious Demise of a Contrary Cat a lovely review, which you may read here. Internationally acclaimed--how fun!

I get such a kick out of happening across a mention of my books in the blogosphere. Some mentions are particularly fun. For example, a young woman writing a term paper on "gothic picture books" had this to say about The Curious Demise of a Contrary Cat: "All I have to say about this is that it's a beautiful example of prolepsis and dramatic irony." Prolepsis! Dramatic irony! I suddenly feel like a very clever writer--and rather a good writer, too, when someone with such knowledge of literature likes my book! You can read the full review of the book at smartstuff.vox.com/library/post/picture-book-round-up.html.

Just found out today that Duck Dunks has been chosen as a Children's Book-of-the-Month Club Alternate Selection. What does this mean? To be perfectly honest, I'm not altogether sure! I do know this must mean Holt sold the book club rights for Dunks to Book-of-the-Month Club, which must mean that Book-of-the-Month Club likes the book enough to make an investment in it, which seems like very good news five months prior to publication!
